Jean Izoulet studied Philosophy at the École normale supérieure and in 1897 was elected Chair of Social Philosophy at the Collège de France. His work on the suicide of democracies was listed in the Index Librorum Prohibitorum. Izoulet’s thinking, considered anti-Durkheim, has an important place in the history of ideas.
