Sophie Sa studied History at Wellesley College and Asian Studies at Harvard University, where in 1975 she completed a doctoral thesis on ‘Family and Community in Urban Taiwan: Social Status and Demographic Strategy Among Taipei Households, 1885–1935′. She was the Founding Executive Director of Matsushita (Panasonic) Foundation. Her translations include Chiang Ching’s Farewell, Fou Ts’ong and a forthcoming cookbook by the same author.
